Brad Zimmerman, who you might recognize as Johnny Sack's lawyer from "The Sopranos", spent 29 years working a "temporary" job in the restaurant industry while pursuing his dream of being a comedic actor. In "My Son the Waiter", Zimmerman uses the comic talent that's landed him gigs opening for Joan Rivers, George Carlin and Brad Garrett, to tell heartwarming and hilarious stories about his family, career and none-too-successful love life. Having used his signature humor as a support system through life's challenges, Zimmerman offers inspiration to the artist in all of us, showing the sweet rewards that come from never giving up.

Our hero is geek Jordan, who is on the hunt for Batman No. 92 at the Comic-Con but stumbles into Kerry, the geek girl of his dreams. From there, it's a series of misunderstandings, pop-culture references and crazy characters all set to a jaunty musical score. Written by Thomas J. Misuraca, "GEEKS!" celebrates the nerd in all of us, one issue and one song at a time.

For many, "Be Here Now" was more than a book on Eastern philosophy, it was a mantra and a way of life. Now it inspires "Be Here Now: The Journey of Ram Dass", a play about the book's author, the amazing Ram Dass. Take a psychedelic journey with the man born Richard Alpert who, along with Timothy Leary, was kicked out of Harvard for experimenting with LSD. Alpert later traveled to India where he studied intensely with a guru and was given the name Ram Dass which means "Servant of God." He then returned home and wrote his definitive book -- later deemed the "counterculture's Bible" -- and quickly became a spiritual teacher for an entire generation. Experience the entire trip thanks to this acclaimed new play written by Lynne Kaufman and performed by Warren David Keith.

When dangerous forces threaten the village's traditional way of life, Tevye's faith and love for his family give him strength to fight for his home and his people.      Sondheim is at his bloody best in "Sweeney Todd", his macabre masterpiece about a barbaric barber and an even beastlier baker. Set in 19th-century London, this adult production from STAR Repertory Theatre "attends the tale" of the title character, who after being banished on false charges, returns to the city to exact his revenge. Teaming up with pie maker Mrs. Lovett, Todd opens a barbershop in which he slits the throats of customers and she bakes them into pies. A legendary smash in 1979, this darkly comic show won eight Tony Awards while "The New York Times" gushed it contained "more artistic energy, creative personality and plain excitement" than a dozen average musicals. Recently adapted by Tim Burton into a hit movie with Johnny Depp, "Sweeney Todd" now comes to Avo Playhouse in a vibrant production directed by Brandon Sherman.

When seven girlfriends and their fabulously gay guy-friend plan a weekend away, they're looking forward to nonstop gossip, diet-disregarding carb overloads and, of course, some heavy drinking. What they aren't planning on is being picked off one-by-one by the killer who stalks this rented house -- once the site of a mass murder of 15 teenage girls ... their bloodstains still soaked into the floorboards beneath hastily replaced carpeting. Now the personal vanities of this house's current occupants will be their undoing, as their vacation becomes a fight for survival. From writer-director Jane Clark ("Meth Head"), "Crazy Bitches" plays with familiar horror film tropes in a fun, fresh way, gleefully terrorizing its characters -- and its viewers -- along the way.

This witty romantic comedy shows how love brings out both the best and worst in us. Fun-loving, confirmed bachelor Benedick returns from a victory at war only to find himself caught up in another battle: a war of wits and words with the acid-tongued, headstrong Beatrice. Though they've each sworn off romance, their "merry war" of clever insults reveals the growing attraction between them. Meanwhile, Benedick's fellow soldier Claudio is head over heels for Hero, the governor's daughter. They will soon be wed ... if the treacherous Don John doesn't ruin everything first. At once passionate, sexy and blindingly funny, "Much Ado About Nothing" is filled with some of the most brilliant comedic repartee ever written.

Enjoy the singular experience of viewing the largest whales in the world. Hornblower Cruises, famed for their educational excursions aimed at lovers of whales and other marine life, celebrates blue whale watching season with this special tour. Highlights of the cruise include watching leaping dolphins, barking sea lions and soaring sea birds during a search for the legendary blue whales. During this memorable four-hour whale-watching cruise on San Diego's largest and fastest whale-watching yachts, you'll be able to view not just these giants of the sea, but also some of San Diego's best landmarks. Live narration is supplied by both the ship's captain and an on-board naturalist from San Diego Natural History Museum. Hornblower offers the most comfortable, climate-controlled boats in Southern California. If your tour doesn't see any whales, you'll be given a "Whale Check" to come back for free.
