Beach Highlights
Rocky Shore
On the north end, WIndansea Beach is not your traditional sandy beach. It is rather a gently sloping rock shore. At the water's edge, you have to jump into the churning surf. Windansea is frequented by more advanced surfers who take advantage of the good surfing conditions, created by underwater reefs.
Sandy Shore
On the south end, Windansea is a sandy beach, suitable for sunbathing, swimming and diving. Beware of ocean conditions, since the surf and currents can be strong.
Great Scenic Views
Windansea is one of the most scenic beaches in San Diego County. The waves breaking against the rocks, beautiful sky, and rugged coastline, with expensive La Jolla homes perched on cliffs, make Windansea Beach a great spot for taking photos.
This beach is also a great place to sit back and take it all in, with the nice ocean breeze. The shack along the rocky shore was built by surfers back in the early 1940s.
Windansea Beach is located in a La Jolla neighborhood, away from restaurants and restrooms. However, it's a close drive to La Jolla Blvd, which has such accommodations.
Pacific Beach and Mission Beach, with their funky beach culture, 3 1/2 mile shoreline, famous boardwalk and ocean pier, are just a short drive south.
