TORREY PINES BEACH HIGHLIGHTS
Torrey Pines State Beach is a wide, sandy beach between Del Mar and La Jolla. About 4 1/2 miles long, the beach begins south of Carmal Valley Road in Del Mar and continues south to Bathtub Rock or thereabouts.
About a mile of the beach is easily accessible from North Torrey Pines Rd with parking available along the beach side of the street. Across the street is Los Peñasquitos Lagoon.
The north and south sections of the beach are hidden from view and less accessible by bluffs. During spring and summer months, the beach that's open to North Torrey Pines Rd (Coast Hwy 101) and beach to its north can get quite crowded.
The beach south of the open area is hidden by tall bluffs and much less crowded. This section of beach is popular for walking and jogging. Above the beach on the bluffs and large hill behind it is Torrey Pines State Reserve.
The closest restaurants are along Carmal Valley Road or in Del Mar Village along Camino Del Mar (Coast Hwy 101).
BEACH AMENITIES
Torrey Pines Beach has few amenities. Restrooms and showers are located next to the parking lots at both ends of the beach.
