Silver Strand State Beach

5000 Highway 75, Coronado, California (map)

Beach Highlights

Silver Strand State Beach is located about half way between Coronado and Imperial Beach. The ocean side of The Strand is rather isolated and free of development, giving visitors a sense of freedom and openness.

Beach Activities

This beach is ideal for taking long walks and jogs. Kite surfing is a popular activity on the south section of the beach. Other activities include swimming, surfing, volleyball, boating and fishing.

Beach Camping

Along the north side of the beach is Silver Strand State Beach Campground, which offers overnight RV camping, right on the beach. What makes this campground unique from other state beach campgrounds in San Diego County is that it's level with the beach and ocean. The other campgrounds are on bluffs overlooking the beach. Hookups are available.

San Diego Bay

If you want to explore the San Diego Bayside of The Strand, three pedestrian tunnels cut underneath the hwy to the other side. The bayside features Cays Park, a large, grassy, recreational park, with tennis courts and a baseball diamond. Grand Caribe Park is a small shoreline park on the bay. The beach is sandy, narrow and popular for small boat launches. The beach is much longer than the park and is good for walks and jogging.
