BEACH HIGHLIGHTS
La Jolla Cove is a small, secluded sandy beach in
La Jolla, CA. The cove is a popular spot for swimmers, snorklers and scuba divers. Water visibility can reach 30-40 feet on a calm day.
The waters are within the La Jolla Underwater Park Ecological Reserve, which protects all marine life. The rules are to look, and don't take.
The small beach is a popular spot for beachcombers, especially during Summer. The beach is easily accessed by stairways.
La Jolla Cove is next to Ellen Browning Scripps Park, a popular spot for strolling along the walkway, photography, weddings, and picnicking.

(June - September)
These family-friendly summer concerts offer a wide range of musical styles for everyone’s enjoyment, at Ellen Browning Scripps Park, overlooking La Jolla Cove.
EAST OF THE COVE
From La Jolla Cove, you can walk east, along the cliffs, and enjoy breathtaking views. If you keep walking, you'll soon be at the historic La Jolla Cave Store, which contains curios, momentos and a tunneled entrance to Sunny Jim’s Cave.
Near to the Cave Store is a look out point with stunning views of the La Jolla Caves, La Jolla Shores, Scripps Pier, and much of the North San Diego County coast. A hiking trail continues further east, along the cliff, offering more siteseeing adventure and exercise.
WEST OF THE COVE
From La Jolla Cove, you can make your way west along the cliffs. You'll pass Boomer Beach and Shell Beach, both secluded, sandy beaches. Further along is
La Jolla Children's Pool, where the Harbors Seals hang out during the non-Summer months. Still further, you'll pass South Casa Beach,
Cuvier Park and Hospitality Point.
La Jolla Downtown Village is a block up Girard Ave.

Public restrooms are located near La Jolla Cove at Ellen Browning Scripps Park.
REGULATIONS
Standard San Diego beach regulations apply, with the following modifications:
Alcohol is prohibited. There are no fire pits and open beach fires are prohibited. Removing marine life, sea shells or other artifacts is prohibited. Also prohibited are floatation devices and fishing spears The waters off La Jolla Cove are for swimming and diving only.

Parking
Parking is available along Coast Blvd, which can fill up fast, especially on a weekend or warm day. Parking is also available downtown, on the streets and in paid parking lots. Be mindful of the time restrictions of parking along the street.
Location & Direction
1100 Coast Blvd. From the north, take Interstate 5 to La Jolla Village Drive, westbound. Turn left on Torrey Pines Road at the signalized intersection. Follow Torrey Pines Road to the signalized intersection at Prospect Street and turn right. Watch for the signs and bear right on Coast Blvd.
From the south, take Interstate 5 north to La Jolla Parkway. Continue on as it becomes Torrey Pines Road. Follow Torrey Pines Road to the signalized intersection at Prospect Street and turn right. Watch for the signs and stay right on Coast Blvd.
Lifeguard
Lifeguards are on duty all year round. In Summer, lifeguard hours are 9am til dusk. During other times of year, lifeguard hours may begin at 10am. Check with lifeguards for hours.

Disabled Access
La Jolla Cove is not accessible to wheechairs, due to the stairways. However, above the cove is Ellen Browning Scripps Park, and a concrete walkway, which follows along the cliffs and has scenic ocean views.
