BEACH HIGHLIGHTS
Activities
The sands of Imperial Beach is a popular hangout for families. Children can play at the
Dune's Park playground located next to the sand.
On a clear day, visitors can see the Las Coronado Islands.
Residential homes line the beach. The sand is good for walking and jogging, and best during low tide. Other activities include sunbathing, swimming, surfing, boogie boarding, and fishing.
Nearby Attractions
The main attraction of the beach is
Imperial Beach Pier, which has a food concession at the end. The pier is a popular fishing spot.
Another attraction is Pier Plaza, at the entrance to the pier, and next to Dunes Park. The plaza has some shops, food, and an outdoor eating and sitting area.
BEACH EVENTS
(mid to late July) is the largest sandcastle building competition in the USA, located on beach near Imperial Beach Pier.
(mid to late August)
At Imperial Beach Pier. The triathlon consists of a 1/2K ocean swim (wetsuits optional), 15K bike ride and 5K run; the duathlon features a 2K run, 15K bike ride and another 5K run.

At Pier Plaza. Bring a blank. Have fun!

Artists gather at Pier Plaza to create art pieces which are auctioned on the second day of the Art Walk.

The 5th Annual Imperial Beach International Film Festival will show screenings over 3 days at Pier Plaza and other locations.
