Coronado City Beach is an extra wide beach that stretches for about 1.5 miles, between the Hotel del Coronado and North Island Naval Air Station.
Activities
Coronado Beach is ideal for walking and jogging. Other activities include swimming, boogie boarding, volleyball, kite flying, surfing, fishing, and sunbathing.
Surfers stay on the north section of beach. Kite flying is allowed south of the jetty.
Resort Beach with Scenic View
Coronado City Beach is a resort-style beach, with the Del Coronado Hotel and shops nearby in Downtown Coronado's Orange Ave. The walk to the beach from the street is somewhat long, where you make your way through sanddunes.
When you get to Coronado Beach, you can't help but be taken in by the beauty. From the frontage street, you'll see the sanddunes in the foreground with the flat beach beyond it. The sanddunes actually spell out the word "Coronado". You get the sense that this beach is very wide. Beyond the beach, you can see the Coronado Islands as well as sail boats, sometimes clustered together.
