Outdoor Market Highlights

Poway’s Boardwalk Craft Market takes place on the covered boardwalk along the tracks of the Poway Midland Railroad in Old Poway Park.

The event takes place the first Saturday of the month from February through August, and every Saturday from Labor Day Weekend to Christmas, between 8am to 2pm. Nearby on Saturday morning is the Farmers Market.

The Boardwalk Craft Market takes place rain or shine on the park’s roofed south boardwalk surrounding the Poway Historical Society’s Heritage Museum. Other events in Old Poway Park on Saturday mornings include the Farmers Market from 8 am to 11:30 am and the Poway Midland Railroad’s steam locomotive, trolley and speeder car operations from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The open-air event is a juried show with traditional arts and handcrafts for sale by contemporary Southerna California arts. Artists work in a variety of media, including painting, metal, glass, wood, clay, fabric, fibers, and photography.

Artists will be around to answer questions. The works are done after the period of the Arts & Crafts Movement, popular at the turn of the last century, which emphasized creating useful and beautiful things.

Old Poway Park depicts life in California during the time of the movement, with the wooden boardwalk, an antique 1907 steam locomotive, a 1894 trolley that makes its half-mile journey around Old Poway Park, Heritage Museum, Overshiners Blacksmith Shop, Nelson House, and other artifacts.

And if you’re in the mood for casual American cuisine, The Hamburger Factory is located in the park.
