The Julian Starfest takes place during August's new moon weekend, when the sky is at its darkest. The main events will be held on August 27, at Menghini Winery in Julian CA, with a swap meet in the morning and a drawing and Star Party in the evening.

The drawing will occur at 6pm. If you wish to take part in the drawing, you must arrive beforehand and pay regular admission prices. One ticket is given to each paid admission. Additional tickets can be purchased for $5 each or 5 for $20. Proceeds will go to purchase telescopes and educational material for schools and public outreach.

The General Public Star Party, the main event, will take place from 7pm to 11pm. Those who arrive between 7pm and 9pm can get in for free. Telescopes will be on hand in the viewing area for stargazing, along with astronomy experts to answer questions.

A new premium observing area will be available for servious observers. The viewing area is located on the hill above all light intrusion, north of the winery, in an abandoned reservoir.

White light flashlights are not allowed in the viewing area. It's suggested that attendees bring a red light flashlight. Otherwise, red film will be provided to cover the white light flashlight. Parking is available nearby.

August 25, Thursday

8:00 a.m. - Start of vendor arrival and setup
3:00 p.m. - Camper registration and setup begins

August 26, Friday

8:00 a.m. - Camper registration opens
9:00 a.m. - Vendor Area Opens

August 27, Friday

7:00 a.m. - Swap Meet Begins
8:00 a.m. - Vendor Booths Open
6:00 p.m. - Last chance to buy prize tickets. Additional tickets can be purchased for $5.00 each or 5 for $20.00.
6:00 p.m. - DRAWING TIME
7:00 p.m. - Free admission for the General Public Star Party
Dusk - General Public Star Party viewing session begins.
11:00 p.m. - General Public Star Party viewing session ends.
