Julian Country Christmas will celebrate the holiday season from thanksgiving weekend through early January. Downtown shops willl be decked out in holiday decor and offer one-of-a-kind gifts.

The celebration will have several activites, including the following:

Country Christmas Tree Lighting

Kicking off the holiday celebration is the annual tree lighting. Festivities include Christmas carols sung by local vocalists and Santa arrives aboard a fire engine just before 6, when the tree is lit. This event draws 100s of people each year.

Victorian Christmas Teas

Julian Tea and Cottage Arts will give tea parties throughout much of December. The tea and lunch menu includes finger sandwiches, soups, salad, scones, breads, and desserts and of course a pot of tea. Call 866/765-0832 for reservations (which are required).

A Christmas Carol

The Julian Stage Company will give several performances throughout December of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. The play is adapted and directed by Don Winslow, and features local kids in key roles.
When: Evening performances (7 P.M.): Dec. 9, 10, 16, 17, 18, 2011. Matinee performances (1:30 P.M.) Dec. 11, 18, 19, 2011.
Admission: Adults $10, children 12 and under $5. Credit cards accepted with 5% surcharge. Reserve early--last year sold out!

Doves & Desperados

Comical skits of Julian history will be performed by Doves & Desperados, Julian’s own re-enactment group.

Living Nativity

The re-enactment of the Navity is staged by locals at the Cider Mill on Main Street, on Saturdays, throughout the season celebration.

Handel’s Messiah

Julian Community Choir will perform Handel's Messiah.

Holiday Home Tour

A tour of country homes in the Julian area. The event is sponsored by the Julian Woman's Club. Transportation is provided by the club members.
