Thanksgiving Day Run Highlights
Join us for the O’side Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning in Downtown Oceanside. The event will feature a 5 mile run, 5K run/walk, a combination 5 mile/5K run, and kids’ runs. Finisher medals for all. The races follow a flat course along the beautiful Pacific Ocean. There will be live entertainment at the finish line, near Oceanside Pier.
The 5 Mile Run
Oceanside Harbor salutes the race, then, with the beautiful shoreline as a backdrop, runners race in the fast 5 Miler. The 5 Mile Run kicks off the O’Side Turkey Trot. The fast course was an instant crowd favorite last year. The 5 Mile Course runs through the harbor over the new San Luis Rey Bridge, on to the Oceanside Pier and finishes with the 5K runners and walkers along the beach behind the amphitheater.
The 5K Run/Walk
The original and a crowd favorite, the 5K Run/Walk annually attracts a big throng. It features great runners, great costumes and a little of everything else, including awards for local runners.
The Combo Run: Both the 5 Mile and 5K
The Oceanside course is so inviting that more and more runners are opting to do both the 5 Mile and 5K for a super Thanksgiving workout. This year, look for the special Combo Run option in the online entry forms. With 90 minutes between the races, the Combo Run is certainly worth considering.
Always, the Pacific Marine Credit Union O’side Turkey Trot ends with the next generation taking over and showing its running abilities. Five races for children begin at 10 a.m. with a 1-Mile Run for 9-12 year olds. The runs end with youngsers 4 and under running a quarter mile. Stop by after your race to watch! All the Kids’ runs start adjacent to Tyson Park and finish at the Amphitheater.
