FESTIVAL HIGHLIGHTS

October is "National Art and Humanities Month" and Oceanside Cultural Arts Foundation is hoping the entire community will come out and celebrate with music at the 8th Annual Oceanside Music Festival.
From jazz to jive, country to classical OMFest '09 plans to have tunes for every taste. October 7 through the 25.
The Festival will again open with its Scholarship Gala, We. Oct 7. Last year the event raised enough to present two John Steiger Memorial Performing Arts Scholarships. This year the OMFest Committee is hoping to double that.
As in previous years one of the highlights will be the High School Showcase. This is the reason for OMFest...to raise awareness and funding for these great vocal music programs. OMFest '09 has, again, the mission to provide the opportunity these high school vocal groups to raise funds for their programs. They do this through ticket sales for this performance. This is your chance to see the best of the best! Award-winning musical theatre and choral groups North County schools will strut their stuff. Plan to come out and support our young musicians!
Additionally, venues including Sunshine Brooks Theatre, St Mary's Star of the Sea Church, and Truax Theatre will present a wide variety of diverse musical performances. A special addition to this year's festival will be the introduction of Oceanside International Film Festival the weekend of Oct 15-18. Original shorts, music videos, and features will be shown at various venues throughout Oceanside.
