Freedom Parade Highlights
The Oceanside Independence Day Freedom Parade will make its way north on Coast Highway 101 from Wisconsin Avenue to Civic Center Drive (just past City Hall) in downtown Oceanside.
Oceanside is next to Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, one of the largest military bases in the United States. The proximity to this large military base makes it possible to stage a fantastic Independence Day parade each year. In Oceanside it is held on the first Saturday prior to the 4th of July.
The parade will feature the 1st Marine Division Marching Band, local high school bands, military vehicles, Pearl Harbor survivors, Girls Scouts, Boy Scouts, the Humane Society, the Bookmobile and many, many others.
The parade starts in front of the 101 Cafe at 10:00 a.m. and works its way north with the first unit of the parade reaching City Hall around 10:30 a.m.
Running time from beginning to end is about two hours. Viewing of the parade is from the sidewalks along the entire route. Spectators are encouraged to bring folding chairs. The highest concentration of viewers will be on the north end of the route past Seagaze Avenue. If you're hungry, there are plenty of restaurants in the area.
Parking: Street parking is available on the residential side streets that run parallel to the entire route (Freeman and Tremont Streets). All downtown lots will be open. Parking time limits will be enforced for street parking and parking lots - watch for the signs.
