Kite Festival Highlights

The Ocean Beach Kiwanis Kite Festival marks a fun day of festivities including kite making, decorating, flying and judging, am arts and crafts fair, parade, food and live music.

Each division will be given awards: (Toddlers & Preschoolers; Kindergarteners, 1st & 2nd graders, 3rd & 4th graders, 5th & 6th graders, 7th & 8th graders, High School & Open Division), as well as for Most Unique, Best Decorated, Best Theme.

The kite flying celebration will take place at Ocean Beach Recreation Center and Ocean Beach Elementary School, at the corner of Santa Monica Avenue and Ebers Street (off Sunset Cliffs Blvd.) Free style kite flying follows later in the day at the beach.

Kite Fest Schedule

9 am -12:30 pm
Kite making at Ocean Beach Rec. Center, all materials will be supplied.

11 am - 1 pm
Hot dogs and punch for participants & live band on Ocean Beach Elementary School court yard.

9 am - 4 pm
Craft Fair Booths, Amusement Rides on Santa Monica Blvd.

1 pm
Kite Judging on Ocean Beach Elementary School court yard.

2 pm
The Kite Parade begins at 2:05 p.m. down Santa Monica Ave. and ends at the Beach with freestyle kite flying.
