Carlsbad 5K highlights

Known as the worlds fastest 5K, the Carlsbad 5000 features a fast and fun seaside course, which finishes in Carlsbad Village, where 16 world records have been set. Over 10,000 participants, both novice and experienced athletes will compete in one of seven races. The event tops off at noon with elite-class athletes compete for a lucrative prize purse and new world record.

The Course
Flat, fast and fun! This scenic course features two miles along the cool Pacific with an exciting finish in the heart of Carlsbad. The course is USATF sanctioned and certified.

Water stations are located at the Start, Finish, and along the course. There are also clocks and timers at every mile.

Created just for kids 12 and under, Junior Carlsbad rewards every child with a finisher’s medal, T-shirt and Goodie bag. There are events for every age and ability, from the diaper dash and toddler trot to ¼, ½ and 1 mile races.

All registered participants can pick up their race number and timing tag at the Registration tent. T-Shirts and Swag Bags can be picked up before or after your race at the T-Shirts/Swag Bags tent in the Expo. Individual registration is available at the expo Saturday and Sunday. There will be no race weekend registration for the All Day 25K, teams or groups.

We encourage All Day 25K participants to pick up their race number and timing tag at the Expo on Saturday. If you pick up your race number on Sunday, please arrive at registration one hour before the first race that starts at 7:05am.

The Carlsbad 5000 features a fast and fun seaside course where 16 world records have been set. Both rookie runners and serious speedsters alike enjoy running or walking in one of seven people’s races. Celebrate after your race with two free beers at the Pizza Port Beer Garden! At high noon, witness the elite athletes vie for a lucrative prize purse and a new world record.

Parking

Street parking is available throughout the Village of Carlsbad. We encourage participants to carpool and use the Tamarack, Las Flores, and Vista Way exits.

Southbound participants - drive south down the Coast Highway to State Street in Carlsbad for good parking access. There is a large parking lot on State Street just north of Grand Avenue (refer to the map). After this lot is full, you will have to park on surface streets. From the parking lot, walk south to Carlsbad Village Drive, turn left and head east several blocks to race day registration and the start line entry area at Harding. There is also additional street parking east of I-5 on Carlsbad Village Dr.
