Sicilian Festival Highlights
The streets of San Diego’s Little Italy will come alive with the music, dance, art and cuisine of Sicily on Sunday, May 20, 2012 in celebration of the 19th Annual Sicilian Festival, 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM. The event is free and packed with fun for the whole family. The festival will feature a wide variety of Italian-themed entertainment, Sicilian food specialties, beer and wine tent, Sicilian cultural pavilion, and more!
The Sicilian Festival is an immensely popular event that draws not only huge crowds from the San Diego community, but from all of Southern California, Mexico, Arizona and beyond.
Cultural Pavilion
Now in its second year, the Sicilian Festival is proud to feature its Sicilian Cultural Pavilion. Stop by to view a traditional Sicilian Carretta, a world-renowed Madonnari chalk artist, fishermen repairing their nets, a display of the fishing industry that employed Sicilian Americans in the last century, an authentic produce cart filled with traditional Sicilian vegetables, Renaissance musicians, chalk artists and artisans, and more.....Contact the Convivio Society for more information or to offer volunteer assistance or to participate.
Free Parking
The Festa has arranged for FREE PARKING at the north end of the County Administration Building only, with a FREE SHUTTLE to the festival site. Look for the colorful, open top double decker English buses (only they will be Sicilian buses for this event!) that will take you in open-air style to the Festa site.
Also, since the Festival is held on a Sunday, if you so choose, there is free parking on all the side streets surrounding the festival site.
