Fall Back Festival
Fall Back Festival: the Children’s Historical and Cultural Street Faire:
It’s a Sunday fun-day for the entire family at The 14th Annual Fall Back Festival! Bring the whole gang because this town is big enough for ALL of us!
On November 9th, 2014 from 11am – 4pm we will be falling back in time and kicking off the autumn season with the Fall Back Festival! Enjoy this adventure back to the 1880s, where three blocks of the Gaslamp Quarter are transformed into a western town of the past, with traditional western storefronts, a Sarsaparilla Saloon and the town Jail. Ladies and gentlemen stroll the streets dressed in Victorian garb, the Alpine Outlaws have a high-noon shootout, and there are FREE activities galore for the kids.
The whole family is engaged in the magical old-fashioned atmosphere that the Fall Back Festival brings to life each year. The idea, of course, is to make history fun and to bring the past to life. Kids can pan for gold with actual prospectors, observe a real blacksmith plying his trade, saddle up for an adventurous pony ride, or learn to churn butter and dip your own candles. Join the kids for a thrill at the old-fashioned carnival and fun activities such as inflatable jumps; there is fun to be had for everyone in the family.
Capture the moment by taking a time-period portrait complete with traditional Wild West attire and props. Stroll on by and visit one of the cultural booths to learn about all the different nationalities and how they have contributed to the diverse fabric that is San Diego. Shoot outs and gold panning are sure to make your cowboys and girls hungry, but never fear: FREE FOOD is here! Enjoy a variety of free snacks for the kids from some of the Gaslamp’s most favorable food finds like complimentary chocolate nachos from Rockin' Baja Lobster (and other tasty treats for sale), complimentary hot dogs from Jolt’n Joe’s, popcorn, and cotton candy.
The timelessly cherished tradition of Fall Back Festival is a FREE event for the public to enjoy. Some activities such as the carnival rides will require a minimal charge. With numerous historical demonstrators and interactive activities, this is the perfect place to spend a Sunday afternoon with family and friends.
Fall Back is produced by the Gaslamp Quarter Historical Foundation, and helps to advance our mission of preserving the history and culture of the Gaslamp Quarter and providing a living history of San Diego.
