Fall Back Festival
Festival HighlightsThe annual Fall Back Festival will take place on the Sunday that ends daylight savings time in the Gaslamp Quarter. This great family event includes the Historic Children's Street Faire, the world’s only festival that celebrates history by “falling back.” Tons of children’s activities, entertainment, food, and demonstrations. Ticketed event/all ages. Proceeds benefit the Gaslamp Quarter Association.
Each year as we set our clocks back an hour, the Gaslamp Quarter falls back into time to the 1880s when Bum the Dog and Alonzo Horton roamed the streets. Climb aboard an old-fashioned hay ride and take a tour of the town as you try to picture the dusty dirt roads, bustling vendors and talented blacksmiths. Watch your little ones strike it rich just like the forty-niners as they pan for gold.
Get a front row seat as San Diego’s own, Wyatt Earp defends 4th Avenue from the Outlaws and then be sure to turn your attention and cover your ears for a live cannon demonstration! Show the youngins’ how life was like before those modern luxuries as they try their hands at churning butter or capture a family portrait dressed in traditional time period outfits. Don’t forget to grab your spurs and saddle up for an adventurous pony ride or take a moment to relax and pet the llamas. As your belly starts to rumble, scurry over to enjoy some rootin’ tootin’ grub or enter one of our fancy schmancy pie and ice cream eating contests to make off with all kinds of loot!
