Race Legal features legal drag racing on Friday evenings, at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, CA. It was created to provide a centrally located, safe alternative to illegal street racing, especially among youth. Each event typically attracts over 350 racers and more than 3,000 spectators.
A drag race is a contest between two vehicles racing side by side in a straight line at a designated, controlled racetrack, 1/8th Mile. Race Legal offers different racing formats:
Heads-Up is designed for those ages 16 to 26 years old. In this format, both cars leave the starting line at the same time, and the first to cross the finish line wins.
Race Bracket is a form of drag racing that allows for a handicap between predicted elapsed time of the two cars over a standard distance. Each car chooses a dial-in time before the race, predicting the elapsed time the driver estimates it will take his or her car to cross the finish line. Bracket Race Shoot-outs will also periodically be held.
