Got a tall tale to tell? Come to Harbor Fish and Chips for a friendly ear, casual atmosphere, fresh ocean breeze, and, of course, the best fish and chips around.

The first thing you’ll notice when you walk into this cozy restaurant nestled in a small village on the waterfront, is the nautical décor. Taxidermy and replicas of Great Whites, Mako, Sword fish, Striped Marlen and large game fish decorate the walls along with sea shells and old photos of local fishing boats. The folks at Harbor Fish and Chips mean when business when it comes to seafood, and they’ve been at it a long time.

This family-owned and operated restaurant has been serving Oceanside residents since 1969. To this day, the menu still offers the original homemade tartar sauce, cocktail sauce and famous fresh coleslaw recipes of Sally McWha, one of the restaurant’s founders.

Harbor Fish and Chips serves up a large and varied menu of sea food but is especially famous for its large fish tacos, golden battered chips and fresh clam chowder. Chicken plates, burgers and appetizers are also available. Beer, wine and champagne round out the drink selections.

The restaurant’s proximity to the Pacific Ocean and its beautiful harbor views lend an authentic sea faring touch to the dining experience. Just beware of the overly-friendly seagulls!

Long a local favorite, Harbor Fish and Chips has been voted among the top 50 restaurants in Southern California by North San Diego Magazine and regularly appears in local media.

Harbor Fish and Chips is located at 276 Harbor Dr. in Oceanside. It’s hours of operation are Monday – Thursday and Sunday from 11:00 AM – 9:00 PM and Friday – Saturday from 11:00 AM – 10:00 PM.
