OCEANSIDE HIGHLIGHTS

Oceanside is a beach city, located 35 north of San Diego. Oceanside is bordered on the north by Camp Pendleton and south by Carlsbad.

Oceanside ranks 5th most desirable in the world and 2nd in the US for best climate, with around 10 inches of rain per year and an average day time temperature of 69°F.

Throughout the year, you can find boating competitions and regattas at Oceanside Harbor and surfing competitions and exhibitions at popular surfing spots, including Harbor Beach and near the Oceanside Pier.

Harbor Beach Campground
Overnight campground for RVs and trailers in the north section of the parking area, next to jetty and harbor inlet.

PIERS / HARBOR

Oceanside Municipal Pier
One of West Coast's longest wooden piers. Popular fishing spot. Ruby's Diner is at the end of the pier.

Oceanside Harbor
Features two marinas, Harbor Village, a boardwalk, boat rentals and charters, and restaurants.

RESERVES / NATURE CENTER

Buena Vista Lagoon
223 acres of wetland habitat, a nature center and hiking trails.

Buena Vista Lagoon Nature Center
Extensive animal and plant exhibits, gift shop, library, and auditorium.

THEATRE / MUSIC / ART

The Oceanside Pier Plaza Amphitheatre
Hosts concerts and special events, especially in Spring and Summer. Located next to beach and pier.

Oceanside Museum of Art
Showcases regional and international artists. Building reflects classic Irving Gill design of 1930s.

Sunshine Brooks Theatre
Features original plays, cultural performances and music. Uses local talent.

Mission San Luis Rey
Founded in 1798, San Luis Rey is the largest mission in Calfornia.

Heritage Park Village & Museum
Centers around an idyllic Main Street lined with many of Oceanside's original buildings.

California Surf Museum
Museum has exhibits of historical surfing photographs and equipment. 20,000 people visit museum each year. Includes gift shop.

Oceanside Historical Museum
Exhibits of memorabilia, photography and research archives represent local Oceanside history.

Oceanside Historic Hwy 101 Shopping District
Several blocks of shops, restaurants and more in original buildings from the '50s and '60s.

FARMERS MARKETS

The Oceanside MainStreet Sunset Market
Four block venue in downtown, just north of pier. Includes live music and entertainment.

Oceanside Farmers Market
A smaller event, takes place north of the pier, on Thursday mornings.

Oceanside Hotels, Oceanside Boutique Hotels, Oceanside Beach Hotels
Several small and mid-size economy hotels. Major resort near Oceanside Pier. Boutique hotels a block from beach. Small resort at Oceanside Harbor.

World Bodysurfing Competition

Labor Day Oceanside Pier Swim

Competitors from the entire west coast and beyond swim around the pier in this half-day event.
