San Diego's Mission Bay

Map: Mission Bay Activity Hubs, Beaches & Attractions

Mission Bay is the largest man-made aquatic park in the country. It covers 4,235 acres, about 46 percent land and 54 percent water. The park is very well thought out, with miles of shoreline parks, pathways, resorts, marinas, and beaches.

There are many places to explore on Mission Bay, some more secluded than others.

North Mission Bay Park
Predominantly residential, with beautiful, expensive homes and condos. Campland on the Bay, Crown Point Shores Park, and miles of pathways.

South Mission Bay Park
Most developed part of bay. Hub of sportsfishing and marinas. SeaWorld, two shoreline parks and two resorts. San Diego Lifeguard headquarters.

East Mission Bay Park
Long expanses of shoreline park, a kite flying area, two coves, a resort, and visitors center. Long pathway.

West Mission Bay Park
On Mission Beach. Predominantly residential, a long pathway, several watersports facilities, Belmont Park. Near Pacific Ocean.

Fiesta Island
Uninhabited, except for camping activites at the Fiesta Island Youth Aquatic Center, the only development on the island. Plenty of sandy beaches, great for launching small boats. Southwest side of the island is called Dog Run, where dogs can go unleashed.

Vacation Isle
Large parks along its south and east sides, and a resort on the northwest side. Model Yacht Basin is located south of the resort.
