Fiesta Island

Fiesta Isle is a large, man-made island on the eastern part of Mission Bay. (map)

Fiesta Island is uninhabited, except for camping activites at the Fiesta Island Youth Aquatic Center, the only development on the island. Fiesta Island has plenty of sandy beaches, with room to park RVs and campers, at least for the day. The southwest side of the island is called Dog Run, where dogs can go unleashed.

Fiesta Island has no shoreline parks or formal restrooms. It's basically a barron plot of dirt and sand, with portable chemical restrooms, along Fiesta Island Road.

Fiesta Island is irregularly shaped making for an interesting shoreline and coves. Small boats can be launched from almost any part of the shoreline. There are no boat ramps for larger boats.

The northern interior of the island is a protected California Lest Tern Nesting Site, and off-limits. Most of the remaining interior to the south is closed and off-limits. The streets move in a counter-clockwise direction around the periphery of Fiesta Island, with the road crossing across the island in only one spot at the center. Bikes can travel along these streets, with the outer loop being 5 miles.

Beaches

Dog Run
The largest leash free beach for dogs in San Diego, Dog Run is a 97-acre dog park located on the southwestern section of Fiesta Island.

nestled in a protected cove on Fiesta Island in Mission Bay. The aquatic center is the only man-made structure on Fiesta Island.
