Theater Highlights
The critically acclaimed New Village Arts Theatre (NVA) is a perfect fit for the cultural and art-loving city of Carlsbad.
The theatre has entertained North County audiences with over ten seasons of fresh dramas and comedies.
The theatre group’s large ensemble cast brings each production to life and has garnered numerous major awards, including for renditions of: BRILLIANT TRACES, A LIE OF THE MIND, ORPHANS, THE WVERLY GALLERY, THE PLAYBOY OF THE WESTERN WORLD and NOCTURNE.
The theatre was founded in April, 2001 by graduates of New York’s Actors Studio Drama School. From that first year, NVA has continued to earn praise from audiences and critics, including the San Diego Union Tribune. Pat Launer of KPBS named NVA “the most exciting new theatre” in San Diego.
After many years at Jazzercise, Inc., NVA moved into their current location in Carlsbad Village. The Theatre operates out of one of the oldest buildings in the entire city in what was once a lumber yard. It now houses a comfortable and intimate 99-seat theater that allows audiences to intensely experience each live production.
NVA is currently in the midst of their tenth season and will bring to stage: THE SEVEN YEAR ITCH, INTO THE WOODS and WAVING GOODBYE.
Plays aren’t the only thing taking center stage at the theatre. Music Nights at the NVA feature local area talent in cozy, enjoyable concerts. Upcoming musical visitors include: James Harman and Friends, Tim Flannery and Eve Selis.
The NVA also offers acting classes for adults, teens and children. The classes are open for actors of any age or level of experience.
The New Village Arts is a nonprofit organization that depends on donations to keep the doors open and the stage lights on.
