Historic Downtown Leucadia
N. Coast Hwy 101

DOWNTOWN HIGHLIGHTS
Leucadia Historic Downtown is strung out along Hwy 101 from Encinitas Blvd to La Costa Ave in Leucadia, a community in Encinitas, CA.
The place is much as it was 50 years ago and beyond. The community has taken a proactive stand to "keep Leucadia funky," and thereby prevent the redevelopment trend that has touched upon most of its neighborhoods up and down the coast.
The businesses of the Leucadia Historic Downtown are confined to the west side of the hwy, as the railroad tracks cut along the east side.
LEUCADIA'S FUNKY SHOPS, DINING
Old Leucadia is made up of a motley assortment of liquor stores, motels, offices, restaurants, art galleries, surf shops, boutique stores, antique dealers, and cafes, many of which are housed in historic buildings.
For example, the Pannikin Coffee & Tea, is located in the old Encinitas Train Depot.
In all, the Leucadia Historic Downtown is very off-beat with several shops painted in bright colors.
The heart of the Leucadia business district is Hwy 101 and Leucadia Blvd. Across Hwy 101 and the railroad track is the weekly farmers' market. A few blocks west along Leucadia Blvd is Beacons Beach (Leucadia State Beach).
North of the intersection, the businesses are somewhat disjointed and spread out in small plazas and enclaves. It's better to drive or bike to these businesses than walk.
South of the intersection, there's a sidewalk with a continuious stream of small businesses. This area is good for walking and the location of the annual Leucadia ArtWalk.
