Rancho Guajome hacienda is a 20-room adobe ranch house, built during the cattle boom of the 1850s. In its heyday, the hacienda had extravagant fiestas, lively rodeos, and constant visitors, drawing people from all over Southern, California.
Helen Hunt Jackson, noted author, stayed at the Guajome adobe house, while gathering material for Ramona, her famous novel.
Rancho Guajome is an example of Anglo-Hispanic domestic architecture, built on an original Mexican land grant.
