Music Museum Galleries
Located in Carlsbad, CA, the Museum of Making Music, is a place where you can travel back in time through galleries that showcase instruments that helped shape American popular music from the 1890s up to the present. Each gallery represents 20 years and features the popular music of the era and the instrument innovations during that time. In all, it's a great music history lesson.
Exhibits
The galleries include permanent exhibits and visiting exhibits. Recent past exhibits include That Beatles Sound, The Ukulele and You!, and a Tribute to Glenn Miller: A Celebration of His Big Band Sound. Visiting exhibits stay on for about half a year.
Concerts, Films
The museum conducts intimate concerts, films, workshops, discussions, youth programs, and opportunities for those who want to volunteer.
Guided tours are held each Saturday at 2:30. No reservations are necessary.
While there, visit the Museum of Making Music Gift Shop which includes musically-inspired gifts, postcards, clothing, educational toys, and a diverse selection of books and CDs.
