Located in Carlsbad Village, the Shipley-Magee House Museum is furnished in a turn of the century style, which depicts the life style of the early settlers of Carlsbad who had once owned the house.
Also, displays of Carlsbad and the surrounding agricultural community are housed here in order to educate the public during the tours.
The museum is located at Magee Park, a small grassy area with shade trees and picnic area.
Museum Rose Garden
The Shipley-Magee House Museum features a nationally registered Rose Garden, in addition to a Victorian Herb bed, a native Southern Californian bed, a Carlsbad commercial growers bed and a Patriotic Red, White and Blue bed.
This craftsman’s style home was originally built by Samuel Church Smith, one of the founders of the Carlsbad Land and Water Company in 1887.
