A few blocks from the beach in downtown Oceanside, the California Surf Museum is dedicated to the display of surfing equipment and photographs. The California Surf Museum is visited by an estimated 20,000 people annually. It was originally opened in 1986 in Encinitas and subsequently moved to Pacific Beach before settling at its current location.
The California Surf Museum has memoriabilia of several lengendary surfers, who helps shaped surfing.
Exhibits
Among the California Surf Museum's ongoing exhibits is The Surfershapers Exhibit celebrates a small fraternity of surfers who, by their exceptional conceptual abilities and considerable crafting talent, radically altered surfboard design and, in some cases, manufacturing techniques.
Also on exhibit at the California Surf Museum is "Tom Keck: Exposed. Documenting surfing since the late 1950s."
A new exhibit, soon to appear is, "100 Years of Surfing Culture In Southern California." The California Surf Museum Gift Shop
