Torrey Pines State Beach
A wide, sandy beach, which stretches 4 1/2 miles south from Del Mar to Torrey Pines Mesa.
RESERVES / NATURE CENTERS
Torrey Pines State Reserve
Torrey Pines State Reserve features high broken cliffs and deep ravines on headlands overlooking the ocean. Hikers can follow trails through stands of wind-sculpted pines. Picnicking and camping are prohibited in the reserve. Torrey Pines State Reserve's rich plant community features wildflowers in the spring and visitors can see the California quail gathered in coveys in the early mornings of fall and winter.
Torrey Pines Lodge
The Torrey Pines Visitor Center and adjacent ranger station were built in 1922, originally as the Torrey Pines Lodge, a restaurant with stumpy tables, chintz curtains, lampshades made of Torrey Pine needles, and a jukebox.
Los Peñasquitos Marsh
The Los Peñasquitos Marsh Natural Preserve is located at the northern part of the Torrey Pines State Reserve, between I-5, Coast Hwy 101, and Carmel Valley Road. There is no nature center and no hiking trails. Information about the preserve can be found at the Torrey Pines Visitor Center.
