BEACHES
La Jolla Shores
La Jolla Shores is a sandy beach about one mile long, next to a residential area in La Jolla, CA. The beach stretches from Kellogg Park and Marine Room Restaurant on the side end to Scripps Pier on the north end. The beach usually has gentle surf and is a popular spot for swimming, surfing, scuba diving and kayaaking. The waters just south of the pier is a popular surfing spot.

Scripps Pier
As one of the world's biggest research piers, Scripps Pier, not a public-use pier, is used by the Scripps Institute of Oceanography for boat launching and a variety of experiments. The pier is located at the north end of La Jolla Shores and makes for a nice walk. Next to the pier is a tide pool.
TIDE POOLS
Dike Rock Tide Pools
Dike Rock Tide Pools is a rocky area just to the north of Scripps Pier. The name of this beach refers to a volcanic bench of rock that has extruded through a large gap in the sedimentary rocks and runs perpendicular to the beach.
