A pier, sandy beaches, playgrounds and fire rings, an outdoor amphitheatre, a beach recreation center, a shoreline park, an a historic downtown shopping district. This hub hosts many events each year, including street festivals and beach competitions.
PIERS
Oceanside Municipal Pier
One of the longest wooden piers on the West Coast in Oceanside, CA. Popular for fishing. Ruby's Diner at its end. You'll see many people fishing and a wonderful view of the surfers, beach and coastline with the mountains as a backdrop. On a clear day, you’ll be able to see La Jolla, the Coronado Islands, and Catalina Island.
BEACHES
Pier View North
Located on the north side of Oceanside Pier, Pier View North has much more sand and provides more space for those visiting, than beaches south of the pier. Pier View North is a quite, more relaxed beach than beaches directly south of the pier.
Pier View South
Pier View South, the beach area south of the Oceanside Pier, is Oceanside's most popular beach. Surfing, body boarding and body surfing contests are held at Pier View South, next to the Oceanside Pier throughout the summer. This beach has a playground and large amphitheatre.
Tyson Street Beach
Tyson Street Beach, just south of Pier View South, is within walking distance of the Oceanside Pier. Stairs are provided for beach and park access from Pacific Street.
SHORELINE PARKS
Tyson Street Park
Tyson Street Park is directly behind Tyson Street Beach and within walking distance of the Oceanside Pier.Stairs are provided for beach and park access from Pacific Street. Tyson Street Park includes a grassy area, a sandy play area with play equipment, palm trees restrooms, and a great view of the pier. The park is great for picnics.
THEATRE / MUSIC / ART
The Oceanside Pier Plaza Amphitheatre
Near the pier, the venue hosts concerts and special events, especially during the Spring and Summer.
Oceanside Museum of Art
Housed in a classic Irving Gill designed building that represents Southern California in the 1930s.
MUSEUMS / HISTORIC PLACES
California Surf Museum
Display of surfing equipment and photographs. It is visited by an estimated 20,000 people annually.
Oceanside Historical Museum
preserves Oceanside history through memorabilia, photography, and research archives. Tours.
SHOPPING
Oceanside Historic Hwy 101 Shopping District
The district is within a few blocks of the pier and beaches, with easy walking access. From the pier area, you can walk up Pier View Way to Coast Hwy 101, where you will find restaurants, shops, museums, the civic center and library.
FARMERS MARKETS
The Oceanside MainStreet Sunset Market
A farmers market, takes place in downtown Oceanside north of the pier on Thursday evenings.
Oceanside Farmers Market
A smaller event, takes place north of the pier, on Thursday mornings.
