Batiquitos Lagoon
The Batiquitos Lagoon is home to many plants, birds, and fish. The 610-acre lagoon is located 28 miles north of San Diego, between the Leucadia and Carlsbad, at the southern edge of Carlsbad. The Batiquitos Lagoon can be seen and experienced from a nature trail (see trail map with access and parking locations) on the north side. The public walking and hiking trail is about 2 miles long.
Batiquitos Lagoon Nature Center
The Batiquitos Lagoon Foundation Nature Center is a small mobile unit, tucked away next to some hills and near some trees. Inside the Nature Center, you'll find a friendly Docent, some impressive animal and plant displays and some maps and information.
