Athletic Center Highlights

The U.S. Olympic Training Center is a 150-acre complex near Lower Otay Lake in Chula Vista, CA.  The Olympic Training Center has sport venues and support facilities for nine Olympic sports: archery, canoe/kayak, cycling, field hockey, rowing, soccer, softball, tennis, and track & field.

The year-round, warm-weather athletic training center is the first master-planned USOC training facility.  About 4,000 athletes each year receive the coaching, support and facilities necessary to be their best.

The Olympic Training Center, which officially opened in June 1995, also serves local youth, citizens, and student athletes nationwide.

Copley Visitor Center

The Visitor Center is open to the public Monday – Saturday from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm.  Guided tours are available at Saturdays at 11:00 am and at other times when we have a volunteer tour guide available.  Maps for self-guided tours are available at all other times during business hours.

Visitors are welcome to take a walk down the Olympic Path. It is suggested to bring comfortable walking shoes, water and sunscreen (full tour is one mile each way).  Groups of ten or more (school field trips, clubs or other organizations) must make a reservation by calling 619-656-1500.

The Olympic Spirit Store is currently closed, but you can still support the US Olympic Team by purchasing gear at www.TeamUSA.org.

The Visitor Center is also home to the BMX Hall of Fame.  Improvements to the Visitor Center are currently underway.  The Conrad N. Hilton “Olympic Path” is an elevated visitor promenade running through the main campus, providing an overlook to all sport venues.

The Easton Aluminum Archery Range

The 50-lane archery complex is the largest outdoor archery range in North America.

Emily Hunt Black Athletics Complex

The 400-meter, eight-lane running track with a 12-lane, 100-meter-straight-away and a separate six-acre throwing area for field events

Alex G. Spanos Field Hockey Complex

Field hockey athletes train on an artificial surface (pitch) complete with watering system to meet world standards.

The Kyocera Soccer Complex

Soccer athletes train on four-grass soccer fields measuring 115 x 75 meters.  The soccer fields have also been the site of action-packed competition and clinics for community youth.

Lane/Kuhn Tennis Complex:

Two hard-surfaced tennis courts are available to athletes and also present an area for cross training and recreation.

Douglas F. Manchester Family Cycling Criterion:

Cyclists must meet the challenge of a criterion course nine-tenths of a mile in distance. The course features views of the soccer fields, archery range, Lower Otay Lake and the future site of softball.

Boathouse

A 3,000-meter rowing course with submersible lane markers is laid out on the Lower Otay Lake to accommodate athletes training in sweeps and sculls.

Softball

The softball venue includes a main playing field, practice infield, batting and pitching cages and an equipment storage unit. The facility regularly accommodates the three-time Olympic Gold Medalist Women's Softball Team. The U.S. Men's National Softball Team also utilizes the fields at the ARCO Olympic Training Center.

BMX

The Chula Vista Olympic Training Center has a BMX Supercross track which is currently modeled after the Beijing 2008 Olympic track.  Beginning in October 2011, the BMX Supercross track will be renovated to mirror the London 2012 Olympic track.  The development track is used for future BMX athlete training and competition.

Beach Volleyball

Beach volleyball courts were completed in July 2010 and have an underground filtration system to keep the sand from getting muddy after any rain.  The milled sand is made up of ultra-fine and perfectly round sand granules.

Strength & Conditioning Pavilion

A 3,000 square feet truss-covered fabric building system was constructed at the tennis complex to support an expanded strength and conditioning (weight room) center.

AT&T Athlete Connections Center

The AT&T Athlete Connections Center is a lounge area for resident and visiting athletes where they can relax, watch television on one of the big-screen TVs, play video games or use the computers to catch up with friends and family.

Athlete Village

The Athlete Village includes the Athlete Check-In building for registration and administrative offices, the Sport Medicine & Science Center, Athlete Housing and Athlete Dining Hall capable of serving nearly 1,000 meals per day.
