Cabrillo Hub Highlights

A historic national park, an old lighthouse, a military cemetary, scenic views of San Diego Bay and the Pacific Ocean, and the best tide pools in San Diego County.
Cabrillo National Monument and Old Point Loma Lighthouse are within walking distance. The tide pools and cemetary nearby but too far to walk. You can bike ride there.

LANDMARKS / HISTORIC PLACES
Cabrillo National Monument
Cabrillo National Monument rests protected on 160 acres at the southern-most tip of Point Loma, bordered by the Pacific Ocean on the west, San Diego Bay on the east, and urban development on the north. Some of Cabrillo National Monument's main attractions are a visitor center, a tall statue commemorating Cabrillo, and the Old Point Loma Lighthouse. In addition, there are the panoramic views of San Diego Bay, Downtown San Diego, North Island, Coronado, Coronado Bridge, The Coronado Islands, Pacific Ocean, and Mexico. It's a great place to take photos.

Old Point Loma Lighthouse
At dusk on Nov.15, 1855 the light keeper climbed the winding stairs and lit the light for the first time. The National Park Service has refurbished the interior to its historic 1880's appearance -- a reminder of a bygone era. Ranger-led talks, displays and brochures are available to explain the lighthouses interesting past.

Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery
Fort Rosecrans National Cemetary, 77.5 acres, is located on Catalina Blvd, north the Cabrillo National Monument in Point Loma. Impressive rows of white headstones are lined up on both sides of the street, with San Diego Bay and the Pacific Ocean as backdrops.

TIDE POOLS
Point Loma Tide Pools
Largest, most prolific tide pools in San Diego County. Docents and tours available.The Point Loma tide pools is located below Sunset Cliffs, facing west, near the New Point Loma Lighthouse. On a clear day, you can see the Los Coronado Islands and sail boats.

Swing, big band, jazz, Motown, blues, tropical rock ensemble, jam rock, classic rock, and more.

Cabrillo Festival
Late September
Highlight of festival is reenactment of Cabrillo's landing at Ballast Point. Sail on the tall ship Lynx.
