Watersports Center Highlights
The largest instructional watersports facility in the world, Mission Bay Aquatic Center offers instruction in sailing, water skiing, rowing, surfing, kayaking, kiteboarding and windsurfing.
The aquatic center is located on the south end of Santa Clara Point on Mission Bay. The Mission Bay Aquatic Center is a regional boat safety center, funded by California Dept. of Boating and Waterways.
Facilities
The Mission Bay Aquatic Center has over 50 sailboats, 13 motor craft, 100 surfboards, 90 kayaks, 25 windsurf boards, and 40 rowing shells.
Instruction
The aquatic center has two classrooms. Instruction includes projectors, VCR/DVD TVs and blackboards.
Eligibility/Affiliation
The Mission Bay Aquatic Center is a cooperative collegiate waterfront facility jointly owned and operated by Associated Students of San Diego State University, and Campus Recreation of University of California San Diego.
Eligible users of the Mission Bay Aquatic Center include students, faculty, staff, alumni and their family (when accompanied by an affiliated family member) of all San Diego County colleges and universities (click here to see a list), youth organizations, and persons with disabilities. Current identification of your collegiate affiliation is required to register.
If you are not affiliated with a local college or university, you may register with via the SDSU College of Extended Studies at 619-594-5152.
