Mariner’s Point

Mariner's Point is an open, sandy peninsula and a smaller grassy area, next to Bonita Cove. Swimming is not allowed here. The peninsula has a picnic shelter and restrooms on the grassy area. Fishing is popular on the east side of Mariner's Point.

A permit can be issued for a gathering up to 250 people, with two inflatables maximum.

People must stay at least 500 feet away from a Least Tern nesting area, located at the tip of Mariner's Point. The protected area is fenced off.

Directions & Parking to Mariner’s Point

From South or East San Diego, take I-8 to the Sports Arena Blvd. exit, make a right onto West Mission Bay Drive and continue on to West Mission Bay Drive ramp. Continue over the bridge and the parking lot will be on the left-hand side.

From North San Diego, take I-5 to the Sea World Drive exit, make a right onto Sea World Drive and continue on to West Mission Bay Drive ramp. Continue over the bridge and the parking lot will be on the left-hand side.

Parking is free in these lots.
