Located near
Mission Beach, Bonita Cove is a large park, with a children's playground, a tot lot, fire rings, picnic shelter and tables, barbecue grills, a life guard station, shade trees, and plenty of open space. The park, as it's name implies, includes a sandy beach cove.
For reasons of issuing permits, Bonita Cove is divided into two sections, east and west.
West Bonita Cove
Permits can be issued for gatherings up to 250 people, with up to two inflatables. West Bonita Cove has access to water, a life guard, fire rings, picnic tables, barbecue grills, a large playground, and a tot lot.
East Bonita Cove
Permits can be issued for gatherings up to 100 people, with one inflatable. East Bonita Cove has restrooms and a rinse shower.
Extending south from East Bonita Cove is Mariners Point, a large, sandy peninsula, which is good for taking walks, but not swimming. Fishing is a popular pasttime on the east side of Mariners Point.
There is a moratorium on permits for Bonita Cove, from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Directions & Parking to Mariner’s Point
From South or East San Diego, take I-8 to the Sports Arena Blvd. exit, make a right onto West Mission Bay Drive and continue on to West Mission Bay Drive ramp. Continue over the bridge and the parking lot will be on the left-hand side.
From North San Diego, take I-5 to the Sea World Drive exit, make a right onto Sea World Drive and continue on to West Mission Bay Drive ramp. Continue over the bridge and the parking lot will be on the left-hand side.
Parking is free in these lots.
